Each unit must be registered under an owner, renter, or management company (by that entity – NOT THE AOAO).  Each owner is responsible for their unit.

There are times when an owner sells/has sold their unit, but the unit is either occupied by a guest or a new resident, and they will disconnect their services after completion of the sale, without knowing who to call, especially for “out-of-state” or “international owners.”

Normal process:  An owner is selling their unit and as long as it is vacant, they call to disconnect their services and return the gateway, set-top box, remote control, and power cords to our Bishop Depot on 1177 Bishop Street.  There are currently no parking stalls at that building, due to construction, so you will need to park in the loading zone area in front of our building.  The Bishop Depot is located on the left corner of the lobby near the security desk.

For owners who forget to disconnect their services after the sale of their unit or even when renters move out, services will stay active until the new owner/resident tries to call and register the account under their name.

When that happens, few things can occur, one, Hawaiian Tel can call the previous owner to verify they moved or sold their unit, and see if they are willing to give their authorization to supersede/ transfer their account to the new owner.

If the previous owner refuse to authorize the supersedure/ transfer of services, then the representative will disconnect their services as requested.  They will then be charged for each non-returned piece of equipment.

If the previous owner authorizes the supersedure, then as long as we have the new owner’s/ residents name and their call back number, customer service will then call to compete the supersedure to change the name on the account.

If our call center cannot reach the previous owner, they may/ will disconnect the account as abandoned, and the new resident will lose services and will need to call and schedule a new install.

The hard part for those OWNERS that supersede – are for new “international owners”, because our call center is not able to call out to “International” numbers.  These owners will need to call our 24/7 customer service.  For mainland owners, we will need to know where they are located for time differences, because if they live on the East Coast, and our call center calls them 3pm Hawaii Time, it will either be 8 or 9 pm Eastern Time.  For new owners that wish to place the account under a business name or under their management company, they will need to fill out a Letter of Authorization to place residential services under a business name.  There are so many different scenarios, so each one will need to be handled accordingly.

But to keep things simple, it is always best to have the current OWNER call customer service at (808) 643-3456, and request to disconnect their services at a specific date, and return their equipment.  This will allow the new OWNER to call and schedule their own installation under their name.

One more thing, for any out-of-State owners, a reminder, you will need someone on-island authorized on your TV account, because customer service will not assist anyone not authorized on their account for any billing inquiry or assistance with services.  Then the owner themselves will need to call customer service or tech support for assistance.

Aloha WB owners, residents, tenants, & guest:

As part of our continuing efforts for property improvements, the AOAO Board of Directors’ has recently approved the change and upgrade of our properties Bulk Cable TV, Wi-Fi, and Internet offerings beginning January 1, 2019.

Hawaiian Telcom has been selected as our new provider for our properties Bulk Cable TV service contract which will now include over 175 Advantage Package HD (High Definition) Cable TV channels, Wi-Fi, and High-Speed Internet for ALL our 876 units.  In addition, the property will also get upgraded Fiber Optic wiring throughout and to all our units at no cost to the AOAO along with complimentary Wi-Fi services to our Lobby, Rec Deck and Pool Areas, Banyan Room, and AOAO offices.  Hawaiian Telcom will also provide the AOAO with digital message boards that will be featured on channels 57 & 58 of all units which will be used for notices, advisements, messages, and security/safety alerts to be viewed by all units in addition to what is now done on bulletin boards and elevator monitors for the property.

This new and exciting upgraded property service will replace the existing Bulk Cable TV package with Spectrum (formally Oceanic Time Warner Cable) of just up to 30 channels that had no Wi-Fi or Internet included for our 876 units that the property has had for years.  In addition, our owners, tenants, and residents will no longer (if you choose) need to supplement services by paying additional fees to carrier for in-unit Wi-Fi and High-Speed Internet Services due to this upgrade of services which will now be included for ALL units as part of your standard services covered with your maintenance fees.

In the coming weeks, Hawaiian Telcom will start the construction phase of this NEW service contract process which includes the installing and connecting new Fiber Optic cabling/wiring to the property and within our towers.  We will also be working with Hawaiian Telcom on finalizing a work schedule to start the in-unit install process in coming months which will require access to ALL units.  AOAO Administration Office will be sending out updates and reminders for install schedule to all units starting next month once schedule has been finalized and we will work with all units to insure this process is done with minimal inconvenience for all concerned.

As part of this new Bulk Cable TV, Wi-Fi, and High-Speed Internet service contract, Hawaiian Telcom will be installing in each unit:

  • One (1) Set Top Cable Box w/ Remote Control (NOTE: Additional Set Top Box(s) available at cost of $3.00 per month to be paid by unit if requested)
  • One (1) Residential Gateway-built with Wi-Fi capabilities (4 port router)
  • One (1) Optical Network Terminal (ONT)
  • High Speed Internet Service (up to 300 Mbps download and up to 300 Mbps upload on a wired connection)

Hawaiian Telcom will also be setting up informational sign up meetings in the Banyan Room in the coming months to answer any questions you may have about the new services being provided starting next year.  In addition, if any unit would like to look at options for other services or even additional upgraded offerings, they will be there to assist you with making this work for you and your unit.

As a reminder, this NEW Bulk Cable TV, Wi-Fi, & Internet Services Contract will not officially begin till 12:01 a.m. on January 1, 2019.  Our existing Bulk Cable TV service agreement with Spectrum is still in effect till 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 2018 and at that time, this service will cease.  If any owner/unit has a separate “residential service agreement” with Spectrum for other services like Wi-Fi, Internet, or enhanced Cable TV offerings, I would suggest that you contact Spectrum to advise on what you would like to do for these services beginning on January 1, 2019 as these services are charged directly to you/unit and we/AOAO have no control over these services and feeds as they are not part of the AOAO Bulk Cable TV Service Agreement which the AOAO has advised Spectrum that we/AOAO will not be extending or renewing for 2019.

Thank you for your attention in this important matter and we thank you for your continued support and we look forward to this exciting and much anticipated upgrade to our property.
